Know the rule before you buy the gear

Most gear questions in pickleball are really rule questions wearing a disguise. Whether a paddle is legal for league play comes down to the approved list, not the marketing copy. Whether you need indoor or outdoor balls is decided by the surface you play on, not by the brand on the box. So every guide here starts with what the game asks of you, then explains which specs follow from that, and only then talks about what to look for in a listing.

An honest line about what we do

We do not run a test lab and we do not pretend to. There is no swing robot here, no spin meter, and no scoring rubric invented to look scientific. What we do is read the official rules, compare what manufacturers publish about their own gear, and translate it into plain language, with the differences that matter to a recreational player put first. Where a number comes from the rulebook or from a maker, we say so and point you to it.
